Cast Spiral - Game Rank 5.
Spiral Hanayama Metal Brain teaser consists of five very similar looking, jigsaw-shaped, solid metal pieces. The pieces join together similar to those of a jigsaw puzzle. Alas, but not quite so simply. Small, compact, hand-size, tricky puzzle. The objective is to separate the five pieces and then rejoin back together in the shape of a disc. NO FORCE ever needed. Clever puzzle and moderately tricky. Hanayama rates this as a level 5 on a scale of 1 to 6 (where 6 is the most difficult.) Your experience may differ substantially. Ratings are subjective. The dice face on the packaging indicates the level of challenge. Most puzzlers do find the SPIRAL to be a very satisfying challenge. Great for fidgety hands. Solid cast metal pieces. This is one of the stronger Hanayama puzzles. Great for ages 14 to 105 years.Reminder: only clever movements. NO FORCE. There are 60 plus different cast metal brain teasers in the Hanayama series. Hanayama is the Japanese manufacturer of these puzzles.

Game Rank 5.
VORTEX Hanayama is a cast metal brain teaser puzzle from Hanayama Puzzles of Japan and distributed under license in the USA by University Games / bePuzzled. Objective is to completely separate all 3 pieces and then rejoin. When assembled the puzzle has a gorgeous swirl shape (similar to a mobius band) . The designer, Akio Yamamoto, hints that solving the puzzle is to think of a "crest". This brain teaser is a great challenge for anyone who enjoys mechanical style take-apart challenges. Recommended for ages 12 to 105 years. Some bright 8 to 11 years olds may also find this a fascinating challenge. Requires clever movements. NO force is ever required. Some may solve initially but not know (remember) exactly how the pieces came apart. Re-assembly is also a fun challenge. Your experience could differ. Measure slightly under 2 inches across. VORTEX is one of 60 plus cast metal, pocket-size puzzles produced by the Hanayama Puzzle Company of Japan.

Do not be deceived by the appearance. This devil of a puzzle consists of 8 piece that have triangles on three sides of each block. To solve the puzzle, you must inter-lay the pieces back together so that all the triangles are inside of the cube.

This dynamic cube is one of our hardest, and also happens to be one of our favorites. The Koncy Puzzle contains six pieces. Nothing connects these pieces to each other, or lets the cube retain its form, besides the unique and unconventional shapes of the pieces themselves. Dismantling this cube is a very complex and gentle affair. It should be done one step at a time, and is difficult in and of itself.
The 6 pieces slide apart and return to a cube. It is important to note the last piece to come apart as it is the last to be inserted as the cube is reassembled.

Once the shape is unraveled, getting it back into a cube turns out to be much harder than it looks . Fair warning: this puzzle has 47 steps to bring it back into a cube. Starting with a 3x cube is recommended.
